Parents

Annual Parent's Weekend
Took place on November 14 - 15th, 2009.

The festivities began with a Texas State tailgate on Saturday, November 14th. Where there was a football game against McNeese State. On Sunday, we arranged a tour of the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards and Winery. Followed by providing snacks and some food pairings with a wine tasting, while explaining some of the events that we have done as a chapter.
We wanted to say thank you to those that made it out to the event, and of course encourage those who couldn't make it to partake in next year's Parent's Weekend.

Dear Parents,
First and foremost, the Iota Alpha chapter of Alpha Tau Omega at Texas State would like to thank all of the parents of the brothers for their continuing support. Without parental involvement ATO would not be the chapter it has grown to become. We understand that the decision to let your son join a fraternity may be a difficult and confusing one, but it is a decision that will lead to a much more fulfilling and memorable college experience.
With all of the stigmas associated with greek life these days, its hard to see all the good that comes out of these organizations. Alpha Tau Omega fosters leadership and “real world” experience gained through holding executive positions in the chapter, better grades by implementing mandatory library hours for new members and those in the chapter who may be having academic difficulties as well as the bond of brotherhood that couldn’t be gained outside of the fraternity. ATO also gives back to the community in more ways than one. Every holiday season the “Toys for Tots” campaign at Texas State is headed up by the fraternity in an effort to bring the holiday cheer to those in need around the San Marcos area, and our most ambitious philanthropy “Build African Schools” will be starting in the fall of 2009 with the goal of building educational institutions in the most impoverished regions of Africa.

All of this comes with a great social life as well, taking the “work hard play hard” philosophy to heart. Brothers who are in good standing are rewarded with many date parties, sorority-fraternity mixers, retreats, formals, casuals and many more events that will last in your sons memory for a lifetime. Alpha Tau Omega is more than just another greek organization. It is a brotherhood bound by the strongest ties with the goal of making your son into a better man.
